Easter

For me, Easter is about life. Resurrection. Hope. Grace. Love. Sacrifice. Power. I don't know what Easter means for you. Maybe it's hunting eggs, little girls in spring dresses & time with family. Maybe it's what I described above. Maybe it's both. Wherever you are, whoever you are with, I wish you a Happy Easter!

Mumford & Sons

I saw Mumford & Sons perform with The Avett Brothers & Bob Dylan at the Grammys & I've been pretty much all about them ever since then! Here's a video just for you all! Happy Sunday!! Today, I'm preparing for my Annual Oscar Party!! The Oscars are one of my favorite events of the year! I look forward to it all year long! I posted my Oscar predictions on my other blog.

First Steps!!

It's so funny, yesterday I wrote this post (scheduled for today) about how Isis isn't walking yet and she's just taking her time and blah blah blah. Well, she also decided yesterday to take her first steps! She did it several times and I caught it on video once. She wouldn't do it if you got close to her. If you get close, she tries to get you to pick her up or hold her hand, but I found that if I sat away from her, she would do it herself. I'm telling you, she is just like me and Lewis - wanting to do things on her own time in her own way. We're in for a fun adolescence. Thankfully that's not for a while, but right now my baby is now a toddler! Crazy!

Some moms are crazy!!

I just absolutely cracked up!!! This is hilarious!!! Moms really can be crazy! Although, I have to say, I did some of the things the crazy pink lady was talking about, but I definitely don't think that what I'm doing works for everyone. It's not a competition. That's one of the biggest things I've learned since becoming a mom. We are all SO different. Every mom is different. Every baby is different. What works for me can be recipe for disaster for another mom & baby! I don't understand why we can't just let each other do what we do. We are all just doing the best we can to raise healthy, happy kids! In the beginning, I felt such opposition to what I was doing because I guess some of it was different. I'm not really sure, but I found myself needing to defend my decisions. You can probably see some of that in my earlier posts. But now, I'm just doing what I can. I've learned what works with Isis & with our family & that's really a...

And away she goes!!!

We have a crawler, people!!! She started crawling this weekend & I was there to see it the first time!!! I've been worried that I'll miss big things since starting student teaching, but I'm not missing anything! I saw her crawl across her room & then she crawled all over the living room! She's such a little cutie. And p.s. - I've decided not to write posts on the weekend while I'm doing student teaching. It's just too much. But I'm going to try to keep up with it during the week as best I can! Thanks for still following along!! I seriously love you all!!!

Finding Balance

This is my sweet girl after a long day away from me! Every day it is just my favorite to come home & see her! While I didn't need absence to make me grow fonder of her, it's definitely made those moments we get together that much sweeter! She's growing up so fast! Two weeks ago, she was trying to pull herself up a little, but couldn't move around or crawl at all. Now she can crawl backwards & can get herself where she wants to go in this funny sit, bend & scoot kind of way. I'll have to get a video of that because it's hilarious! I thought I would feel more like I was missing out on a lot, but surprisingly it doesn't feel like that! I know she is loving her babysitter & I'm enjoying student teaching! I get plenty of time with her & I love the weekends just me & her & Lewis! In my class, I helped a few kids one-on-one with math the other day & then today they were doing their homework & they really got it! Their wor...

My Little Jumper

Did you know that I have a YouTube page ? Well, I do & I post cute videos of Isis which you should check out! Because everyone is as obsessed with my baby as I am, right? Of course you are...

Teaching Kids w/ Technology

I get a surprising amount of weird questions or ridicule simply because I have a blog. People act like it's a ridiculous thing or that it's silly or that I'm a part of something that not a lot of people do. Once you start to investigate and read blogs and be a part of the blogging community, you find that is far from the truth. Our culture and world as a whole are continuously moving further and further toward greater and more intricate technologies in all aspects of our lives. You can have whatever opinion you want about the growing use of technology, but the fact is, if you're going to participate in society in the future, you're going to have to be able to use these technologies - if for no other reason than to keep up with your children, grandchildren or students. I watched one of these videos in class last semester and I found the other on LifeChurch.tv . Check them out for yourself!

First Taste of Rice Cereal!

I think she liked it!! I was expecting her to hate it and not get any of it in her mouth, but I think she did pretty good!! I'm totally embarrassed by my baby voice in this video, but what are ya gonna do?

It won't be like this for long...

(Picture taken by Hannah ! The one on the last post was taken by her, too!) Melissa at Dear Baby posted this tonight. Totally made me cry a lot within like 1 minute. It's going by so fast. 5 months old on Wednesday. I can't believe it.

New YouTube Videos!!

I posted several new videos of Isis on our YouTube page ! There's one of her rolling over, one of her playing on her play mat, but I have to say that this one is my favorite... She's discovered that she can grab her own legs. So now during diaper changes, while she's in her play mat, when she's just laying somewhere - she picks her legs up & touches her knees or her thighs. She started doing it tonight in the bath and then she would kick really hard. It was so funny! So we got it on video! I love looking back at her videos over the past few months! She's just growing up so fast!!!! I feel so lucky to live in a time where we have little video cameras and cameras on our phones and things like YouTube & Facebook where I can save these things and share them with friends & family! It's awesome!
