Pneumonia

This is our little trooper in the waiting room at the doctor's office. We finally got a smile when we pulled out the iPhone. We've had one sick girl at our house the last couple of days. It started with a happy girl on Monday with a 99-100 degree fever. By Tuesday morning, it was a 102 degree fever & a bit of a cough. By Tuesday afternoon, it was a pitiful girl who didn't want to play, couldn't keep her eyes open, with a 103 degree fever that wouldn't go down & a cough that sounded like something was rattling in her chest. We took her to the doctor Tuesday afternoon. We knew something was wrong when the nurse took one listen to her chest & left the room to talk to the doctor. They immediately sent her for a chest x-ray before we even got to see the doctor.  It's pneumonia. Luckily we caught it early & we were able to go home with antibiotics. They said her fever could stick around for a couple days & the cough would definitely stick around...

Isis is sick.

We made it almost 8 months with no sickness at all! I was starting to think my breastmilk was magical! But alas, it is not. Of course my first day of student teaching would be the day she finally gets sick. Lewis noticed she seemed different this morning. She woke up in the middle of the night last night & he also knew then that she wasn't feeling well. This morning he said she was quiet & had a runny nose & her eyes were all red. We both thought it was allergies, but when I picked her up from the babysitter's house today after school got out, I thought she had a fever.  We ended up going to the doctor & she had a fever of 101.3!! She has an upper respiratory viral infection, so no antibiotics. Just Tylenol. Poor little thing is finally wanting to cuddle & be held & I can't cuddle her all day! So funny that just a week or so ago I was reading Livy's blog as she talked about her little one being sick & finally wanting to be cuddled again! No...

Sickness!

Image Source First of all, if you are squeamish when people talk about breastfeeding or other female issues, just don't read this post. But I am of the opinion that I'd rather share my experience so that maybe someone else would benefit from it. I definitely didn't know enough about this to know what to look for or what to do. Last night before going to bed, I was talking to Lewis about how my left breast was hurting & felt really tender. The lactation consultant at the hospital had told me you could get a clogged milk duct and that massaging it would help get the milk out. I tried that last night and then went to bed. Isis woke up to eat 3 times last night! Some nights she does 1 time now, sometimes 2 and sometimes 3. Last night she had lots of nasal congestion issues, so she woke up a lot. The first time she woke up, I was sweating and kept asking Lewis if it was too hot in her room, but he said it felt fine to him and our Grobag Egg said that the room was cool enoug...
