A Dad's Perspective on Cloth Diapers

This post was written by my husband, Lewis. I wanted to share his view of the cloth diapers as I know many times it's the dads who are thinking, "no way I'm doing that." At first, I was worried that Lewis may not be on board, but the more we talked about it, the more it felt like something that was right for both of us. Here's a little view of cloth diapers through his eyes: Honestly I didn’t know much about diapers in general when we first began discussing cloth diapers. Just like most people, when I thought about cloth diapers, I saw essentially big white napkins with safety pins. After Cameron showed me a few of our options I realized that we had much more modern tools to work with than I thought. I had never changed any type of diaper before, so to me, I was up for anything. Now after I have changed many months worth, I have to admit that I no longer can see us using anything else other than cloth diapers for our children. What do I love about them? The...

Daddy Duty

I must say, I have a wonderful husband! Every other Saturday is Daddy/Daughter day. I get to go out with Diana by myself & he spends the whole day with Isis. This Saturday I had to go to an event as a UK College of Education Ambassador, so I left before she even woke up in the morning. Lewis had her all day! I didn't get home until 4:30! He also does all her bath & bedtime stuff every night. I'm usually running around rinsing off cloth diapers or putting dirty clothes in the hamper. He really enjoys that time every night with her because he is at work all day. He always wants to cuddle with her when he's home and he'll usually change her diaper for me when he is home, too. He just does so much & I love it! He was completely on board with the cloth diapers and even told me that yesterday when he had Isis for Daddy/Daughter day that he tried to see if she'd pee in the potty like with the Elimination Communication! He's just not scared of anything! He...

My wonderful husband

If you read my Sickness post, you know I've had a rough day. One of the things I knew would be really difficult about being a mom is that you can't stop just because you get sick. Especially when you're nursing. Well, it's the same for dads, too. Today I went back and forth from being achy with chills to being super sweaty and hot. I felt pretty awful all day. Getting up and walking around was really uncomfortable. Nursing hurt because of the achiness and the mastitis. Well, Lewis really stepped up and helped me a lot. He still had to work, but he just really did his best to make sure that I was comfortable and okay. A lot of the things we usually do together at night, he did alone because I felt so bad. He even called his mom and asked her to make me chicken noodle soup and bring it over! She did and she also made cupcakes!! He is really the best husband and dad. He made my whole day way better!

Cute Dad!

So I had posted that I love Cam Gigandet & his dad style!! Now Lewis is a dad & I can post about him!!

Hormones, Husbands & Help!

We came home from the hospital on Monday. Diana met us at our house when we got home and helped out with a few things as we got settled in. Lewis' mom came over that night and brought us food and helped us give Isis a bath. That night, we went to bed ready for several feedings & very little sleep. It was a little worse than we expected... Monday night, we went to bed like normal - turned all the lights off and put Isis in her little newborn bassinet thing that's on the top of her pack 'n play. That night, she woke up screaming several times. I couldn't figure out what the problem was. She fed several times and would sleep if I was holding her, but other than that, she was just having none of sleeping on her own. I ended up holding her and trying not to fall asleep for several hours at the end of the night. Thank goodness Diana came over at 9:30 that morning to take care of Isis for a couple of hours so that Lewis and I could sleep a little. I spent the entire day Tu...

Favorite Celebrity Dad

I really think he's my favorite celebrity dad right now. It's because he always seems so involved, carrying her with the sling and carrying the diaper bags in other pictures and stuff like that. You actually rarely see the mom carrying her! It's always him! I just love it! I think Lewis will be the most amazing dad and for some reason Cam Gigandet reminds me of what Lewis will be like.

Dads with Baby Slings!

I love this! I love that the celebrity dads are making it cool for regular dads to do stuff like this! Lewis has been really excited about carrying Isis in the Baby Bjorn! I love the baby slings, too! They are so cute and they look comfortable too!
