Wordless (Word-ful?) Wednesday

I love people's Wordless Wednesday posts. And I would like to start doing it. But today when I was picking out a picture to start, the one I kept coming back to was this one. And honestly, it needs some words to explain why it sticks out to me. Pictures by Sara Corman Photography I love my birth pictures . Like really love them. I will cherish looking back at those and remembering that day and that pain and that joy and those tears. It was an amazing day. The thing that is so interesting to me is that something about the way they look makes the whole experience seem so quiet and so peaceful. Maybe it's the black and white, maybe it's the fact that she somehow caught every beautiful moment and when I look, even though I was there and I experienced it, I don't see the fear and the wave of up and down that was going through me in those hours. But this picture says more. In this moment, you can't tell, but I was screaming. Literally at the top of my lun...

Maternity Pics

My friend Sara Corman of Sara Corman Photography took some beautiful pictures for us a couple of weeks ago! Isis wasn't always super thrilled about having her picture taken, but I think we got some great shots of our growing family!! If you're in the KY area and are interested in pictures, check out Sara's blog for more information! I highly recommend her!!   Side note, Sara will also be taking our birth pictures when Baby #2 arrives. So she'll be there capturing that experience for us! Sara Corman Photography

Looking Back on 2011

2011 has been quite a year for my family. I slacked a little in the blogging, but mainly because there was so much going on! I love the New Year because it always makes me want to take time to look back & reflect on a year passed & then to look forward to possibility for the next year. January Isis turned 1 and we celebrated with a birthday party ! I reflected on what it meant to me to be a mother and what I was learning from the experience . We also put our townhouse up for sale in January!   February I found out in February that a bunch of my friends were pregnant ! Isis took her first steps ! I got a little frustrated that things had not yet regulated after having Isis. And I shared 10 of my Favorite Things ! March Isis dropped to 1 nap a day ! I shared some of her favorite books and some of her technology milestones at 14 months. I also shared why I think my choice to be a teacher was great for me as a mom and also great to my future stu...

Lake!!

My friends have a beautiful lake house & we've visited before, but yesterday was our first time where Isis was old enough to appreciate where she was & get excited about a ride on the lake! It was so fun!! She loved playing on the big porch & looking out at the water! We found her a little life vest to wear when she went down on the dock!  She wasn't crazy about the life vest, but she loved putting her feet in the water off the back of the boat! But then we found a better life vest swimsuit that she borrowed from her friend Reese! Now she was ready to go for a ride on the water! She LOVED being out on the water! I think we'll have to make it a more regular thing to go visit the lake!  Hope everyone is having a fun-filled 4th of July weekend!!!

Wish List on a Day Off!

Today is Lewis' birthday. He took off work Wednesday, Thursday & Friday of this week because I'm also off on fall break. Today we decided to have our babysitter keep Isis anyway so that we could have a day together just hanging out without a baby like we used to! It's crazy because we haven't had a day alone like this since before Isis was born!! Of course I ended up cleaning & organizing most of the morning, but now I'm just laying in bed watching a movie! In the middle of the day!!! Because I can. But I'm also catching up on blog reading & thanks to Adriel's new Photography series at The Mommyhood Memos & then all Jhen's beautiful pics at From Here to Eternity , I'm thinking about the fact that I badly want a DSLR camera. It's my #1 wish list item for Christmas. If I got nothing but that, I would be so happy! It's like the gift that keeps on giving! I really want a Canon Rebel xti, but I'm open to other suggestions. ...

One Year Ago

Exactly one year ago I was reveling in the fact that I had a baby girl growing in my belly! I had known for 2 days that she was a "she." I was filled with visions of baby girl dresses & cute headbands! Maybe she'd be a ballerina, maybe she'd want to sing, maybe she'd be a tomboy, maybe she'd play sports! I had no expectations, just hope & possibility! Now here she is & I am overjoyed with the fact that I had a baby girl! Of course I would've been overjoyed with a boy as well, but it has been so fun with Isis! She is definitely a daddy's girl & lights up whenever he is in the room! Although I think she's pretty partial to me as well. She has definitely worn headbands and super cute dresses. She is just an absolute joy & the most perfect addition to our family! Yay for little girls!! Where were you one year ago??

10 on Tuesday: 10 Favorite 6 Month Pics

This is completely gratuitous, just me posting pictures of Isis, but my friend Hannah took some pictures of our family yesterday! She is such a great photographer & she is also going to be watching Isis for me in the fall when I start my student teaching. I feel so blessed to have her as a friend on top of the fact that she takes gorgeous pictures of Isis!! I also realized that I didn't put any of the ones where she is smiling in this post. This just means I'll have to post more another time! Get excited! (And this is not a great comment-grabbing post , but who cares? This is for the digital baby book!)
