Yes, I am a First Time Mom & I Need to be in Control

I've had several people say things to me when I talk about life & scheduling & baby planning & things like that - but they'll say, "Oh, you're a first time mom. Just wait until the 2nd one. You won't be like this." I find it interesting because I've also recently heard, "oh, just wait until you're in labor. You'll get the medication" or "just wait till you've changed a few of those cloth diapers, you'll use disposables" and neither of those things happened. So now, with these "first time mom" comments, I don't know how to respond. Should I say, "uh, thanks??" I'm not sure. Because the truth is, maybe I'm needing to be in control and particular and worried about germs and sickness and things like that because I'm a first time mom - and maybe I'm doing all those things because I'm CAMERON and it's just what I do.

I was pretty particular before Isis arrived. I've always kinda wanted things a certain way and I've always been a bit of a perfectionist and I've always been an over-achiever. I've always washed my hands like 20 times a day. I've always been concerned about germs or sickness when people were around me. I've always done life on a schedule. I've always made lists. I've always needed to be in control. Now, granted, some of these things are my life issues that I need to learn to let go of to a certain extent, but none of them have just suddenly arrived because Isis is here. It seems to me more like I've extended that part of my personality to include the baby stuff - for better or for worse.

So maybe I'm a first time mom & I'm particular. And maybe I'm just Cameron. I guess only time will tell.

you're Cameron and you're doing a great job! Both of you...Isis is a lucky girl to have such great, loving parents! As I have always said, do what YOU TWO think is best for YOUR child. I <3 u!

I know exactly what you mean! My only rule is that no one in the delivery room is in my face saying "PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH HARDER HARDER." Um...I'm already trying my hardest and you yelling at me tells me that you think I'm not. And I refuse to push anymore if you keep yelling at me!

You're Cameron and (at the risk of sounding Oprah-y) you are the best you. Not some catty other person who thinks they have it figured out.

Cameron, we have similar personalities it sounds like!! I liked parenting that way with Ivy and I hope to do the same with Baby Tula! :) It makes my life easier and it's what works for my family!

Girl I am the same way. I actually got a bit more OCD about certain things with my second child. I just like things to be perfect, and that's not about my mommyness, that's about my God-given personality! DEAL WITH IT! LOL!

10 on Tuesday: 10 Favorite 6 Month Pics

This is completely gratuitous, just me posting pictures of Isis, but my friend Hannah took some pictures of our family yesterday! She is such a great photographer & she is also going to be watching Isis for me in the fall when I start my student teaching. I feel so blessed to have her as a friend on top of the fact that she takes gorgeous pictures of Isis!! I also realized that I didn't put any of the ones where she is smiling in this post. This just means I'll have to post more another time! Get excited! (And this is not a great comment-grabbing post , but who cares? This is for the digital baby book!) How to Efficiently Read Blogs

Have you ever been just completely overwhelmed by the sheer volume of blogs out there you can read? I have. Wow. So many fabulous people I'm interested in reading about! I love the stories, the humor, the pictures, the tips, the giveaways, the links, I just love it all! So I've found myself having to streamline my blog reading in order to better manage my time & make sure I hit the "must-reads" for me. Here's how I've done it: First of all, if you leave a comment on my blog or if you follow my blog, I will go to your blog & at the very least I will follow you on Google Friend Connect . This way the blog shows up on my blogger dashboard when I log in. I always look over the new posts that are there when I log in each day, but if you've looked at my Google Friend Connect page lately, you'll see that I follow a lot of people's blogs! So I had to come up with a more specific approach in addition to the blogger dashboard. This is where my Goog...
